Creating Disposable Emails Addresses in Gmail and Keep your Inbox Clean from Unwanted Emails

Most sites like newspapers, magazines, online forums, etc. demands providing your email address even though you are hesitant to give them because you suspect that you will be bombarded with unwanted emails. You can easily manage these unwanted emails if you can create disposable email addresses. Popular email providers like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail (Outlook.com) allow us to easily create such disposable email addresses and automatically sort emails send to such addresses. You can also choose to automatically delete such emails.

In this article, we will see how we can create and manage a disposable email address in Gmail.

Creating a Disposable Email in Gmail

You can create a disposable email in Gmail and set a filter to automatically delete, skip inbox and archive, make it as read, etc. You can also forward the emails to another email address automatically. To create a disposable email address in Gmail:

Step 1:

Click on the Gear icon appearing at the top right corner in your Gmail | Click Settings | Click on Filters

Step 2:

Click “Create a New Filter” in Filters Settings page | Enter the desired name for the disposable email address you want to create in the To field in Filter window. Ensure the email address start with your actual email address. For example: if your email address is: youremailaddress @ gmail.com then you can create a disposable email address as:

“youremailaddress+newsletters @ gmail.com” and “[email protected]”, etc.

Step 3:

Click “Create filter with this search” | In the next window, select what you want to do with the emails received in this disposable email address.

Step 4:

Click Create Filter. Send a test email to the disposable email address you created to see it works as configured.
